Tinea
Tinea (ringworm) is a dermatophyte fungal infection, typically a ring-shaped patch with a scaly, raised edge and clearer centre; on the scalp it can cause hair loss. It is confirmed with a KOH scraping or culture (Türe Avcı 2026). Tinea misdiagnosed as Atopic Dermatitis may improve but not clear with steroid cream (‘tinea incognito’) (Siegfried & Hebert 2015).
