Repeat Open Application Test
A repeat open application test (ROAT) involves applying a child’s own cream or product to a small patch of skin (often the inner arm) twice daily for several days to see whether dermatitis appears. It simulates real-world use and is used when a suspected allergen is not available for Patch Testing, or when patch testing is negative despite strong suspicion (Tam & Yu 2022).
