TOPICOP Scale

TOPICOP is a questionnaire developed in France by Moret et al. (PLoS One 2013) to measure fear of topical corticosteroids in people with atopic dermatitis and in parents of affected children. It has 12 items, 6 on worries and 6 on beliefs, each answered on a 4-point scale and turned into a 0–100% score. It was validated in 208 respondents (144 parents), with Cronbach’s α of 0.79 and 0.78. It is the standard instrument in parent surveys, which report medians or means from about 39% (Italy) to 67% (Saudi Arabia).
