Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First is an NHS England service under which community pharmacists can assess and supply treatment for set conditions, including localised non-bullous impetigo, without a GP appointment. The impetigo protocol (v1.1, 2025) supplies Hydrogen Peroxide Cream for 5 days to people aged 1 year and over. It excludes children with a currently uncontrolled episode of eczema, eczema herpeticum, recurrent or widespread impetigo, or bullous impetigo. Toddlers with flaring eczema are therefore referred to the GP.
