Air Pollution
Air pollution, including fine particles (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide, volatile organic compounds and tobacco smoke, is associated with atopic eczema in observational studies, alongside damp and mouldy homes (Lee et al. 2024). The National Eczema Association lists cigarette smoke as an environmental trigger. No intervention trials in toddlers were found.
