Allergy Society of South Africa

The Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA) is the country’s professional body for allergists and clinical immunologists. Its members, such as the paediatric allergists of the University of Cape Town, co-authored the South African paediatric eczema algorithm (Kannenberg 2020) and the 2014 South African food allergy consensus. It sits alongside the patient-facing Allergy Foundation of South Africa, which publishes the Child’s Eczema Action Plan and wet-wrap leaflets. ALLSA’s exact formal role in the 2014/15 atopic dermatitis guideline was not confirmed from primary sources.
