National Fire Chiefs Council
The NFCC is the professional body for UK fire and rescue services. On 29 July 2020 it launched a campaign with the MHRA on the fire risk of emollient residue in fabrics. Its “Know the Fire Risk” advice says to wash clothes and bedding at the highest temperature on the care label (washing does not remove all residue), and to sit at least 1 m from open fires and bar or halogen heaters. This applies to the bedding and nightwear of toddlers on heavy emollient use.
