Arachis Oil
Arachis oil is the pharmacopoeial and label name for peanut oil, used as a carrier or absorption aid in some medicines and skin products (e.g. Zinc and castor oil ointment BP, Naseptin). EMA excipient guidance requires a contraindication for known peanut or soya allergy, and refined oil is not tested for residual protein (Pharmaceutical Journal 2021). It matters for toddler eczema because Lack 2003 linked peanut-oil skin preparations on inflamed skin with later peanut allergy.
