Clindamycin
Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic. DermNet lists oral clindamycin as an option for minor community MRSA skin infections in outpatients and as an alternative for penicillin-allergic patients with staph infections. Topical clindamycin is one of the mild-case treatments for perioral dermatitis in children. In one cohort of children with AD, 75% of colonising staph strains showed inducible clindamycin resistance (Pediatr Int 2011, abstract only), so choice should follow swab sensitivities and microbiology advice (NICE NG190).
