Eczema Infection — open questions

  • Should a toddler with suspected eczema herpeticum who is alert and drinking be treated with oral aciclovir at home after same-day specialist review, or always admitted (CKS vs NICE QS44/DermNet)?
  • Do clinician-supervised dilute bleach baths reduce infection episodes (not just severity scores) in toddlers with recurrent impetiginised eczema? Cochrane 2019 trials did not measure this well.
  • How much does nasal S. aureus decolonisation of the child (and household) cut recurrence of infected eczema in 1–4-year-olds, and at what resistance cost (fusidic acid/mupirocin)?
