Conflicts — emollient-practicalities (round 7)

Conflict: [Santer et al., BMJ 2018] say a small benefit “cannot be excluded” in children under 5 or those bathed more than five times a week. [NHS England 2019 / NICE CG57 2023] advise not prescribing or offering bath additives to any child, with no age carve-out. [National Eczema Society, n.d.] says bath oils can still help children who will not tolerate leave-on emollient. Unresolved. (Note: Emollient Bath Additives)

Conflict: [MHRA Drug Safety Update, 2013] says aqueous cream caused reactions when left on, but not when used as a wash, and has been useful as a wash-off soap substitute. [National Eczema Society, n.d.; Nursing in Practice, n.d.] say it should not be used even as a wash. Unresolved. (Note: Soap Substitutes)
