Food Allergy — source conflicts
Conflict: [Chang et al., JACI Pract, 2016] says foods trigger ~20–30% of moderate–severe childhood AD. [Medicina review, 2024] says ~40% of AD patients have food allergy; [Kohl, 2026] says 30–40% of moderate-to-severe paediatric AD has IgE-mediated food allergy. [Braun et al., JACI Pract, 2025] says IgE has “a marginal role in most patients”. Figures may measure different things (challenge-proven trigger vs co-existing allergy vs sensitisation). Conflict: [Perkin et al., EAT, NEJM, 2016] says early introduction of six allergens showed no efficacy in the intention-to-treat analysis of general-population infants. [BSACI early-introduction guidance, 2018] says early egg and peanut introduction “may help prevent development of food allergy” (based on per-protocol EAT and LEAP in high-risk infants).
