guidelines — source conflicts (round 5)
Conflict: [NICE CG57, 2007 rec / TA82 2004] restricts pimecrolimus to children aged 2 and over as second-line therapy. [National Eczema Society factsheet, reviewed Nov 2023] states UK licensing of Elidel from 3 months. Unresolved: the TA82 wording predates the licence change.
Conflict (RESOLVED 2026-10-03, round 15):
[AAD member guideline page, accessed 2026-10-03] lists only adult-focused updates and says the 2014 guidelines apply to children. [Search result, ScienceDirect PII S0190-9622(26)00343-9] indicates a dedicated 2026 paediatric AAD guideline.Resolution: the AAD member page now lists “Pediatric atopic dermatitis” guidelines. The full manuscript (AAD-hosted PDF) and PubMed abstracts were retrieved: Davis DMR et al., J Am Acad Dermatol 2026;95(1):121.e1–e26 (PMID 41949508), and Sidbury R et al., 124.e1–e19 (PMID 41949509). The 2026 paediatric guideline supersedes 2014 for under-18s. See AAD Pediatric Guideline 2026.
Conflict: [NEA complementary-treatments page, 2025] says research shows TCM and Ayurveda have helped ease eczema symptoms in adults. [BAD patient leaflet, Aug 2025] says HCPs “do not generally recommend” Chinese herbal treatment (liver inflammation), and [NICE CG57] says herbal medicine has not been adequately assessed. Unresolved.
