Conflict: [Kelleher et al., J Allergy Clin Immunol, 2015] found upper-quartile TEWL at day 2 and 2 months predicted AD at 12 months (AUC 0.81–0.84; n=1,903). [Chittock et al., J Allergy Clin Immunol, 2024] found TEWL measured in ambient home conditions did not signal AD risk at any stage (n=128, mild disease); FLG alleles, low NMF and water content did.
