WES

World Education Services (WES) is the primary Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) body designated by IRCC for Canada Express Entry. South African applicants must submit their university degrees to WES for assessment — WES evaluates whether the SA qualification is equivalent to a Canadian degree. SA university degrees (NQF Level 7+) typically assess as Canadian bachelor’s equivalents. The process costs approximately CAD $265 and takes 7–12 weeks, making it an early action item in the Canada pathway and a bottleneck that product readiness content should address.
