iPlug

iPlug is Riello’s entry-level offline (standby) UPS, available at 600 VA and 800 VA with an inverter rated at 0.6 lagging power factor. The unit is sized for short-duration backup of a typical PC and small electronics — long enough for the user to perform an orderly manual or software-initiated shutdown before the internal VRLA AGM battery reaches end-of-discharge.

The user-replaceable battery, push-button operation with LED status, IEC outlets, and bundled PowerShield software for graceful shutdown make it a plug-and-play product for home and very small office use. Offline topology means the load is fed directly from utility under normal conditions and only switched to inverter when a power event is detected — efficient at the cost of a brief transfer time and limited waveform conditioning.

When to choose this

  • Single-PC or small home electronics backup
  • Need short hold-up to perform an orderly shutdown, not continuous operation
  • Cost is the dominant constraint
  • Mains supply is generally clean (offline topology offers no continuous waveform conditioning)
