Side Effects Profile

Tirzepatide’s adverse effect profile is primarily gastrointestinal: nausea (12–18%), diarrhoea (12–17%), and vomiting (5–9%) are the most common, predominantly associated with dose escalation and resolving with continued use. GI effects are the primary driver of treatment discontinuation (~5–7% across SURPASS trials). Serious adverse events are uncommon. Key individual risks have dedicated notes: see Nausea and Vomiting Risk, Pancreatitis Risk, Gallbladder Disease, Thyroid Carcinoma Warning, Diabetic Retinopathy Risk, Hypoglycaemia Risk, Gastroparesis and Delayed Gastric Emptying.
