Rural Direction Sign
Rural/regional direction signs are green guidance signs (a point the common K53 ‘blue = rural’ teaching gets wrong — see Road Sign Colour Code). They point to towns and regions and carry no legal command.
Meaning
Directs drivers to towns and regions off the freeway.
Required driver response
Slow and select the correct route at the intersection; advisory only.
Question patterns
- “What does this sign tell you?” — recognition of guidance/information role.
- “Is this a command or just guidance?” — class disambiguation.
- Distractor trap: believing rural direction signs are blue — sartsm specifies green; blue is reserved for a1 freeways.
