Speed Limit Sign
A speed-limit sign sets the maximum for that section of road. It overrides the general limit until a new limit sign or a de-restriction sign appears. Closely tied to Speed Limits.
Meaning
White circle with a red border and a black number (e.g. 60).
Required driver response
Do not exceed the posted speed; driving slower is permitted (traffic allowing).
Question patterns
- “What does this sign mean?” — recognition of meaning.
- “What must you do when you see this sign?” — required response.
- Distractor trap: reading it as a minimum speed, or assuming the limit ends without a new or de-restriction sign.
