Accelerator
The accelerator (control 10) increases engine power and speed. On a motorcycle the equivalent is the throttle/twist grip (control 5). It works in coordination with the Clutch and Gear Lever when pulling away.
Evidence note: Official NaTIS Section 3 numbered control.
evidence_strength: confirmed.
Purpose
Regulates fuel supply to the engine to increase speed.
When used
To pull away and to increase or maintain speed.
Risks of incorrect use
- Excess speed
- Wheel-spin and loss of control
- Stalling if mismatched with the clutch
Question patterns
- “Which control performs function X?” — component identification.
- Distractor trap: Choosing the brake or clutch when asked which control increases speed.
